THE spring bank holiday weekend is once again going to be alive with music.

Taking over where the very successful Wivenhoe May Fair left off, Greystock is back this year with another cracking line-up of acoustic singer/songwriters and bands.

Running over the Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to 11pm, highlights on the Saturday include Wivenhoe's very own melodic troubadour Matt Selley, Gavin Bowen, the Harry Slater Band and Broomwagen.

On the Sunday music-lovers will be treated to the delights of Philip Morino, Matt Claderbank, Castaway and Undergrowth.

This weekend will also see the annual running of the Kings Arms music weekend.

Also running over the Saturday and Sunday, there's sets from the likes of Cushti and All Revved Up on the Saturday and The Landed and Scooby on the Sunday.

Taking place in the pub's garden, and undercover in case of the notorious British weather, it runs from 12.30pm until 11pm.

As well as the music there's a barbecue, bouncy castle, face painting and real ales with proceeds going to charity yet again, which this year will be Cancer Research UK.

Music of a different style will be taking place at Layer Marney Tower as part of their Music and Dance Festival this Sunday when Renaissance Musicians Salmagundi will be playing as well as the Funky Voices choir and Sweete Harmonie, a Tudor female voice ensemble.

And music at Castle Park's Bandstand continues on Sunday at 3pm with some rock and pop tunes courtesy of the Band of the Army Air Corps.
