COLCHESTER’S North Hill will be turned into a giant water slide to raise money for charity.
Colchester Council has teamed up with Cancer Research UK to bring the SlideRider fundraiser to the town for the first time.
People will be able to plunge head-first down the inflatable slide, while raising money for research into cures and treatment for children’s cancers.
Gemma Turpin, Cancer Research UK event manager, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be working with Colchester Borough Council again and are working together to make SlideRider a fun and exciting activity that the whole family can do together.
“SlideRider is a great opportunity for people in Colchester to raise funds for our Kids & Teens campaign and help beat children’s cancers sooner, so we will be asking Sliders to fundraise as well as enjoy the unique experience the event offers.”
Annie Feltham, councillor responsible for leisure at Colchester Council, said: “I’m very excited by these plans, Colchester is the perfect place to host Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens’ giant water slide.
“As well as making a splash for a good cause, it will be amazing to bring such a fantastically fun event to our town.”
More information about the event and details on how to get involved will be released in the next few weeks.
