CONCERNS about a proposed new nuclear power plant at Bradwell will be raised in Parliament.
North Essex and Harwich MP Bernard Jenkin met Professor Andy Blowers, chair of the Blackwater Against New Nuclear Group (Banng) to discuss growing safety concerns over the site.
Discussions centered on how to pursue opposition on a national scale over the proposal to build a prototype Chinese reactor at the site.
Professor Blowers said the meeting was fruitful and opposition to Bradwell should be conducted at the highest political level.
He said: “Banng has called on the other MPs in the area and local councils to also make their objections clear.”
Mr Jenkin and Professor Blowers claim “irreversible environmental damage” would be caused by “extracting large volumes of cooling water” at a new plant.
There are also concerns about the ongoing storage of nuclear waste at the site, which is being decommissioned.
