A CAMPAIGNING councillor has called for action to stop a bus stop becoming waterlogged.

The bus stop in Berechurch Hall Road, Colchester, has been getting waterlogged for the past two years.

But flooding is now getting worse and Colchester councillor Dave Harris has contacted Essex County Council asking for a broken drain to be fixed.

The council said it has identified a problem at the bus stop but Mr Harris said the lack of action has pushed him over the edge.

He said: “I am afraid the flooding has got worse. I went to the bus stop again this morning and the water was lapping over the top of the kerb which is six inches high.

“The water was heading towards the bus stop and I put a couple of bath ducks in to highlight the problem.

“How are people supposed to catch a bus when the bus stop is splashed with a water flume-style deluge every time a car goes by?”The county council says a pipe next to the bus stop may need further investigation.
