Hundreds of visitors poured into Maldon to watch the Christmas lights switch-on.
Maldon Town Council, in conjunction with Maldon District Council, organised its first vintage-themed festive fayre in the town centre last Thursday.
People perused the stalls selling festive wares while listening to live choral performances and doing late night shopping.
As the evening drew to a close Maldon mayor Mark Heard switched on the lights.
Mr Heard said: “It was a brilliant night and it was incredible to see the streets so busy.
“It was great to see the hard work of the teams pay off and the crowd being so responsive.
“I think the highlight was the two reindeers in St Peter’s Yard.”
There was range of stage entertainment near All Saint’s Church while Santa and two live reindeer brought Christmas cheer to St Peter’s Yard.
Frozen’s Queen Elsa and Olaf, Carl the Minion, and Dark Horse Morris treated the crowds throughout the evening, last Thursday **26.**
Mr Heard said: “Each year it gets better and better and next year’s will be even bigger.”
