A FAMOUS folk duo will return to Harwich on Tuesday for an evening of ale and sing-alongs.

O’Hooley and Tidow have performed at Glastonbury, are featured frequently on BBC Radio 2 and have earned rave reviews for their groundbreaking 2014 album, The Hum.

Now the pair will set the Samuel Pepys alight with their masterful music as part of their Summat’s Brewin Tour 2015.

The tour links in with their recently released album of the same name, which explores the surge in popularity for real ales and the issues surrounding a culture of drinking.

They will perform 30 gigs at 30 real ale venues around the country after asking fans to invite them to their towns.

Harwich was one of the few venues to which they were always going to travel.

The pair performed at last year’s Harwich Festival and admit they “fell in love”

with the town.

Belinda O’Hooley said: “When we played the festival last year, we both just fell in love with the place and the people.

“There’s a real sense of the history of the place and a feeling of community.

“It was our first visit to Harwich and when we went for a drink at the Alma Inn, we were made to feel so welcome.

“We felt like we had come home.”

Festival administrator Michael Offord said: “This event is part of the festival’s ongoing commitment to bring diverse entertainment to Harwich throughout the year.

“The tour has been earning rave reviews so far and if the 2014 performance is anything to go by, this event is not to be missed.”

The pair will perform at the Samuel Pepys, in Church Street, at 8pm, with tickets costing £10. To book, go to harwichfestival.co.uk
