There is no date for when a Halstead ATM will become fully functional again.
The cash dispenser outside the NatWest bank, at the top of High Street near to the Centre, has been unavailable for use for two weeks.
It is not known when it will be unboarded.
A spokesman for the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, which owns NatWest, said: “The ATM is staying and the boarding is only temporary.
“Unfortunately there currently isn’t a date for when it will be fully functional as we are in the process of undertaking the required works to enable the ATM to be left behind.
“In the meantime, there are several other free-to-use ATMs within a mile and we have an agreement with the local Post Office, which is close to the branch and there are a further four Post Offices within 3.3 a mile radius, so that customers can withdraw cash, check balances, and make deposits free of charge.
“Our local business customers can now get coinage.”
The bank is expected to go on the market in October.
