OOMPA Loompas, Big Friendly Giants and Fantastic Mr Foxes were all spotted at a nursery during a dress-up day in honour of a legendary author.
Youngsters at Busy Bees Nursery, in Wyncolls Road, Colchester came in dressed as characters from Roald Dahl stories and listened to some of his most famous tales as part of the Dahl Delicious Dress Up Day celebrations which were held all over the country.
Children also made enormous crocodiles to be judged, learnt special crocodile dances and made masks and cakes.
Money raised from the day was donated to Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity which helps seriously ill youngsters in the UK.
Nursery manager Kate Whitnell said: “Story time is a special part of nursery life and the books of Roald Dahl have pride of place within our pre-school cosy book corners, and are a favourite with staff and children alike.”
