The CEO at Mid Essex Hospitals NHS Trust (MEHT), Paul Forden, is standing down from his top job, to be seconded to a national NHS programme.

He joined MEHT in 2013 and is taking on a new role working on projects for the Trust Development Authority, supporting and guiding NHS Trusts towards delivering high quality services for patients.

Mr Forden worked on enhancing accessibility of care for patients treated by the Mid Essex Trust and led initiatives to reduce patients length of stay in hospitals including reorganising movement of patients around hospitals.

Chairman of Mid Essex Hospitals, Professor Sheila Salmon, said: "On behalf of the Board I wish to thank Paul for his contribution whilst at Mid Essex Hospitals and recognise Paul's commitment to patient safety, quality care and patient experience.

"We wish Paul well for the future."

Chief nursing officer Cathy Geddes will take on the role of Acting Chief Executive.
