A Halstead mum is shaving off her hair in memory of her nan.
Sophie Turkentine, 34, of Mitchell Avenue, lost Eve Turkentine six years ago after a battle with lung cancer.
Wanting to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support in her memory and inspired by her close friend Tracey Walton who just got the all clear from breast cancer, she decided to take part in the charity’s head shave event.
The full time mum-of-five said: “Everyone has lost someone to cancer.
“My hair will grow back, but we can never replace the ones we have lost.
“I have done a hair cut before and I raised more than £1,000.
“I am hoping to get £600 this time.
“I don’t feel that nervous - I feel quite excited.”
She has so far raised about £30 and it encouraging more people to donate to the cause.
She will have her hair cut off by friend Tracey, a hairdresser, on August 28.
