A new farmers market is set to open after community-spirited locals got their heads together to launch it.

The Coggeshall Farmers Market will pitch up in Coggeshall Village Hall on June 28 where more than 20 local businesses will offer cakes, breads, pickles, honey, spices, meats, cheeses, wines, fresh fruit and veg and crafts.

Coggeshall residents, Mike Wark, 44, of Myneer Park, and Simon Magee, a stay-at-home dad from St Peter's Road in Coggeshall, rallied a group of around eight volunteers who succeeded in organising the new bi-monthly market within just two months.

The market will run from 10am to 1pm in the village hall in Stoneham Street on June 28.

Entry is free.

Profits from the group’s stall, which will serve bacon sandwiches, will go to Farleigh Hospice.
