Plans to double the size of a village by building up to 370 homes will be submitted within weeks, it is expected.

Developers Bellway Homes, based in Chelmsford, hope to build the houses, community facilities and open space on land off Forest Road, which runs through Witham and Rivenhall.

Part of the land, which is owned by farmer Simon Brice, is currently used by Rivenhall Oaks Golf Centre.

An exhibition providing more detailed images into the plans was held at the golf centre, in Forest Road, yesterday.

After a screening opinion was adopted in August, it is thought that a full planning application will be submitted in the summer.

Rivenhall parish councillor Jack Prime, of Rickstones Road, Rivenhall, said the parish wanted to retain its identity and not be joined with Witham.
