A brave team from Halstead took on Maldon’s famous mud race at the weekend.

Heidi Kennedy, Denise Thurgood, Lisa Taylor and Debs Leader from The Park Pre-School completed the race on Sunday, along with Lisa’s sister Helen Cusano, of Leicester, and her father Les Golding, of Maldon.

A total of 300 people took part in the mud race, with the winner, Bill Suggitt, completing the course in an impressive four minutes and four seconds.

Lisa said: “It went really well.

“We all completed the course.

“We started together and we ended it together.

“We did get quite stuck at times, but we managed to get each other out.

“I think it took us about half an hour - the mud was so deep.

“I have never done it before, and I won’t being doing it again although I can’t speak for the others.

“Thanks to all the parents at the Park Pre-School for their support and donations.”

They raised more than £300 to be split between Farleigh Hospice, National Ezcema Society and Cancer Research UK, as well as the chemotherapy unit at Broomfield Hospital.
