Fire crews tackled a blaze involving two cars parked beneath a block of flats this morning.
Two crews were called to Thompson Court, Broomfield Road, Chelmsford, shortly after 3am today.
The vehicles were 100 percent alight and crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire by 3.44am.
The block of flats were evacuated before the arrival of the crews.
A high pressured fan was used to ventilate the stairwell of the flats.
Crews also dealt with a burst water main in the car park.
The fire service and the police will carry out an investigation to establish the cause of the fire.
