BUDDING musicians will be given tips on how to pursue a music career after a school was given a £5,000 grant.

We Are Music, formerly known as Harwich Rock School, has received the grant from Essex County Council’s Chairman’s Fund.

Grants totalling almost £73,000 were presented from the two funds to 26 Essex-based charities and voluntary groups at a ceremony held at the Essex Record Office.

The money given to We Are Music will be used to fund a project for emerging young artists.

The school will help develop the budding stars’ ability through the Get Known scheme before producing a video for them at the end.

Each artist can then use this to promote themselves.

Trustee Chris Scott said: “We will help them write material and get them ready to make their video, which we will then shoot.

“We will help to explain to them how they can make money from music.”

Tendring’s Big Society Fund has already given funding to the project and it is hoped extra funding will mean it can run for a year.
