A three-year-old girl who was airlifted to hospital after a serious crash will officially open the new head office of the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust.

Maisie Moon suffered a brain injury after a lorry ploughed into the car in which she was travelling in Coggeshall Road, Earls Colne, in September 2012.

She was flown to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, by the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance.

Her father David Moon, suffered two broken ribs, and older sister Ella suffered cuts and bruises in the collision.

Gendrihs Kuplovs-Okinskis, of Central Avenue, Southend, admitted dangerous driving and was jailed for nine months and banned from driving for two years.

On April 30, Maisie and her family have been invited to open the new head office of the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, based in Earls Colne Business Park.

The Moon family have raised more than £5,000 for charities including the Essex Air Ambulance and the Sick Children’s Trust since the accident.

Attending as VIP guests, they will have the opportunity to see the new office, meet the crew and learn more about how the charity operates.

The charity launched in 1997, before incorporating Herts Air Ambulance in 2007, and has continued to expand meaning it needs to relocate to new premises, although still in the Earls Colne Business Park.
