THE story of the Karen Carpenter will be told at a special performance in Harwich.
Close to You combine narration and songs to tell of Karen’s search for love and her struggle with anorexia.
The band, which comprises singers, guitarists, pianists and a clarinet, flute and saxophone instrumentalist, will be performing at the Electric Palace on April 9.
Musical highlights will include Close to You, Goodbye to Love and Rainydays and Mondays.
Musical director John Lindley said: “We didn’t set out to be a Carpenters band –I didn’t actually want the job of making arrangements which sounded like Richard Carpenter’s because they are just brilliant.”
Doors to the show at the Electric Palace open at 7pm for an 8pm start.
Tickets cost £8 and available from MK Jordan in Manor Road, Dovercourt, Oxley’s Delicatessen in Dovercourt, Market Street Store in Harwich and the Wrabness Community Shop.
They can also be reserved by calling 07786 744789 or e-mailing jazzandblues@electricpalace.com
