A PETITION calling for a U-turn on major bus cuts, signed by more than 1,600 people, has been handed to transport bosses.
Furious passengers in Harwich and Parkeston hit out at bus company First after it announced a number of services were to be merged into just one, which only offers a limited route in the town.
The new Number 2 route began in September.
Linda Bradnum and Margaret Kennedy launched a petition against the changes in January, and gained the support of Harwich and North Essex MP Bernard Jenkin.
Harwich town councillor Charlie Powell has now handed the petition to Essex County Council.
He said: “I am hoping Essex County Council will fund a patch-in service to fill in where there are no buses.”
