QUIZ Essex’s Police and Crime Commissioner Nick Alston in his first ever live web chat.

The Echo will ask Mr Alston your questions on everything from street lights, front line policing and crime in your area live from 2pm until 4pm on Monday, March 9.

The Police and Crime Commissioner holds regular public meetings, often in the evening, across Essex. But to speak to people who may not be able to attend these meetings, he has agreed to be questioned live on the issues that affect the county’s residents.

Mr Alston said: “Everyone has busy lives and many people have told me it can be difficult to get to an early evening meeting.

“By hosting a web chat during the day, this will give the opportunity for me to reach out to those people who might not be able to make my meeting so they too can ask questions of their Police and Crime Commissioner.

“Of course those people who still plan to attend my meeting are also welcome to take part, as are other south Essex residents, and ask questions.

“I am really excited to be taking part in this web chat and am grateful to the Echo for accommodating this. I really hope this web chat could be the first of many.

“If you have a spare few minutes, please do log on to the website and take part.”

Mr Alston’s public meetings, generally held in the evenings, also include the Essex Police district commander for each area as well as representatives from the local Community Safety Partnership. Those attending receive information about crime in their area and are able to ask questions of Mr Alston, police and council representatives.

Mr Alston will also be hosting a public meeting in Rochford on Wednesday March 18 from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the Freight House in Bradley Way, Rochford, SS4 1BU.
