Witham Singers have appointed a new musical director.
Thomas Duchan replaces Emmelia van der Walt, who has been in temporary charge since Hans Montañana’s retirement a year ago.
It will be a return to former pastures for Thomas, 24, who sang with the choir in its early days and later served as accompanist, as well as sharing conducting duties with Montañana.
He has since gained a degree in music from Chichester University.
As well as running Witham Singers, he is also enjoying a varied diet of music as a freelance musician working across the country and is in demand as an accompanist and conductor in both the professional and amateur sectors.
Witham Singers rehearse at the United Reformed Church, in Newland Street, Witham, every Monday at 7.30pm.
New members are welcome.
Call secretary Ron Fosker for more information: 01376 512582.
