THE First World War was brought to life for students at Highfields Primary School in Lawford this week.
An expert historian joined the pupils dressed as a soldier from the time to explain what war time was like.
Teacher Tom Blowers said: “The children responded fantastically well to the soldier’s stories of facing up to the horrors of life in the trenches including going over the top and having limited and tightly controlled contact with loved ones back at home.
“The students have learned a great deal about this fundamentally important event in our country’s history.
“Most importantly they take away a much greater understanding of why we should continue to remember the fallen.”
