Two young poets have been given the honour of being named their school’s Poet Laureates.
Maylandsea Primary School, in Katonia Avenue, chose the pupils after they took part in a school competition.
The budding wordsmiths, Finley Walsh, a Year Four pupil, and Isabella Thompson, a Year Six, will be writing poems to be performed throughout the year on special occasions and which will also be published on the schools website.
Hannah McCann, deputy headteacher, said: “We had a large number of entries and we are hoping that our poet laureates will motivate and create enthusiasm for writing at our school.”
