Halstead has been crowned the best floral town in the country for the second time at the Britain in Bloom awards.

The prestigious trophy and gold medal follows last month’s victory in the best town category in the Anglia in Bloom competition.

Halstead first won the title in 2012 and this time managed to beat six other competitors, ultimately sharing the prize with Shevington and District, near Wigan.

The award caps off a year in which Halstead won the Anglia in Bloom best town trophy for the fifth time running.

Halstead in Bloom secretary Julia Smith said: “It is fantastic for Halstead. It’s the result of lots of hard work."
