The deselectIon of a councillor who supported residents’ views against new housing plans has caused disappointment.
Councillor Alan Cheshire has been deselected as a Tory candidate for the May 2015 elections for Heybridge West after representing the ward for 15 years.
A Heybridge Residents Association spokesman said: “This was a sad day for local politics and it confirmed that working with the local people and representing their views stood for nothing."
In a secret ballot by association executives last Thursday, Miriam Lewis was re-selected and Ian Dobson was selected to stand as future candidates.
Maldon Conservative Association chairman Gary Duce said: “The views on the LDP weren’t a major reason why he wasn’t selected."
