Arsonists set fire to a garden fence causing £100 worth of damage.
Police are appealing for witnesses after it is believed that the fence in Blake Road, Witham, was deliberately set on fire at about 12.30am last Wednesday.
The homeowners saw the fire and managed to put it out using buckets of water.
Sergeant Martin Richards, of Braintree police, said: “A partially melted plastic bottle was found between the fence and the garden shed and it is suspected that an accelerant was put in the bottle and it was set alight to start the fire.”
