POLICE have released details of the body found dead on the beach by Clacton Pier on Saturday.
The woman has been named as 30-year-old Emma Jane Fitzsimmons, known to live in the Clacton area.
A passer-by alerted the emergency services shortly after 1pm on Saturday when her body was spotted in the water just off Marine Parade East.
Initial post-mortem results say that Ms Fitzsimmons drowned, and the police are treating the death as unexplained.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen Emma Jane in the days or hours leading up to her death. Anyone with information should contact the major investigation team at Stanway on 0300 333 4444.
