Woman hurts leg in pier accident

A WOMAN suffered a suspected broken leg after a rotting plank broke under her at the end of Walton Pier.
The 68-year-old woman was trapped for about 20 minutes after the plank broke under her weight at 11am on Tuesday, trapping her leg.
One crew from Frinton fire station was called, as were coastguards, who managed to break away some of the surrounding wood that was trapping the woman.
She was taken to Colchester Hospital with a suspected broken leg and possible compression injuries.
