TENDRING Council's cabinet has allocated £333,598 towards buying properties in Jaywick to create a green open space.
It is hoped the authority can remove a number of properties next to alleyways which are used by criminals as a “rat run”.
A sum of £46,402 will also be put towards housing enforcement and community development worker posts in Jaywick.
Up to £100,000 will also be spent on a study to identify opportunities to maximise the economic benefits for tourism and shoreline management.
Sarah Candy, cabinet member for planning, said she hoped the study could attract as much as £40million in Government funding for a major scheme to recharge Holland-on-Sea beach and create similar fishtail bays to that in Jaywick.
The council said it will also put the district forward to host one national and one regional conference about the Coastal Pathfinder scheme.
