THE future of a coastal doctors' surgery is unlikely to be re-examined despite a bid by a district councillor.
In September, the North East Essex Primary Care Trust announced it was relocating the Frinton Road surgery in Holland-on-Sea to a site near Brighton Road in the village.
Despite the decision coming after a lengthy consultation, councillor Charlie Sambridge believes many locals remain unhappy.
As a result, he put forward a motion to Tendring Council to try and ensure it would be more centrally located.
It reads: “This council recognises that the residents of Holland-on-Sea would prefer their GP's surgery to be built on land owned by the council on Ipswich Road.
“This council therefore resolves to urgently work with the PCT in order to bring this site forward as a viable option.”
But a joint report by the assistant chief executive and the head of corporate performance says that the site near Ipswich Road has already been deemed unsuitable by the PCT.
It adds: “From the council's point of view there would be serious planning impediments.
“In addition, no formal report has been presented to the council confirming that Ipswich Road is the preferred site of residents for a new doctors' surgery.”
Members of the cabinet will discuss the report on Thursday ***Nov 29*** and then make their recommendations to the full council.
