IT has to be the best job in the world, at least for any red-blooded male with a need for speed.

Business partners Perry Cox, 30, and Tony Harris, 29, own a fleet of gleaming, high-performance cars, including a Ferrari, and Britain’s only all-chrome Aston Martin DB9.

The cars are hired out for a range of functions through Perry and Tony’s company, Reem Machines. “But when they’re not out on lease, we get to drive them when we want,” says Perry.

Nice work if you can get it. So how did Perry and Tony arrive in this enviable occupation?

Enthusiasm counts for a lot. Both describe themselves as “supercar fanatics.”

Perry adds: “We’re mixing work with pleasure. We’re running it as a commercial operation, but we’ve poured a huge amount of love into it as well,” Perry says.

Perry and Tony, who both come from Billericay, also stress the importance of location. Between them they have discovered a surprising gap in TOWIE land.

“We’ve hired supercars ourselves a lot in the past, and there’s really nowhere you can get that service here in south Essex,” says Tony.

Perry and Tony both had successful business careers behind them, in the telecoms and car sales industries, which meant they were able to raise the capital from their own resources. Normally, luxury cars are provided through a broker service, rather than a company like Reem which owns them outright.

Neither of the pair went to university, and they have no formal qualifications. “We’re both the same, we left school and wanted to get straight out there and make some money in the real world,” says Perry.

“You just learn about how business works as you go along,” says Tony. Both, though, cut their teeth in a tough training school that has bred many successful entrepreneurs and captains of industry.

“We worked on market stalls when we were young,” says Perry. He sold cheese at Dagenham market. Tony sold women’s clothing at Basildon market. “When you can do that, you can do anything” he says.

He adds: “You learn a lot about salesmanship. And when you have to get up at four-thirty in the morning to cycle to the market, you learn about discipline.”

Now the pair have swapped bicycles for a range of cars that, as well as the Ferrari and Aston Martin, also include a Chrevolet Camaro, a Nissan GTR, and an Audi R8. The range is expanding all the time, with a Lamborghini Spyder next in the pipeline.

It is the unique chrome DB9 that remains the pride of the collection, however. Perry and Tony had the car converted from its original, more standard, burgundy colour. Perry and Tony regard this machine as their personal baby. When they talk about it, they look and sound like the ultimate cool cats who got the cream. “Everyone turns their head to look when you’re driving that,” says Perry.
