Residents Association.

THE chairman welcomed 26 members to the first meeting of the year. The talk was about the Essex Air Ambulance, which first took to the air in 1998, and to date has completed 10,000 missions. The present ambulance will be replaced later this year with a larger model.

The helicopter costs £260,000 per month to run and relies entirely on charitable donations and public funding. The association gave a donation to the service.

The next meeting is on March 2, 2.30pm at the Baker Hall. New members welcome.


Social Club.

FEBRUARY’S meeting was the postponed AGM. The chairman, secretary and treasurer gave their reports and the committee was re-elected en bloc. The Chairman, Anita thanked all her committee individually for their help during the year. She was given a vote of thanks for excellent work throughout the year.

The speaker for the meeting was Miranda Rayner a qualified personal trainer who gave a very interesting talk on nutrition and gave several tips on sensible eating and exercise to help stave off dementia, arthritis and heart attacks.

There are walks planned for February 17, March 24, and May 12. On March 10 there will be a cream tea at Parkers at 3pm and on April 21 a coffee morning at Oakwood House.

The next meeting is on March 3, 2.30pm at the Baker Hall, when Val Stubbs from the charity ‘Tools with a Mission’. Members were asked to bring along any unwanted haberdashery items , material and any unwanted sewing machines.

New members always welcome.
