Tendring: Not just cereal on the menu at breakfast club

BREAKFAST is more than a hearty bowl of cereal and piece of fruit at Tendring Technology College.

Early risers who attend a breakfast club at the Thorpe campus give their brains a workout too.

Students take part in exercises designed to help with concentration and memory after a nutritious breakfast They include memory games, visual exercises, visualisation and spatial awareness.

Clare Douglas, literacy and numeracy assistant, and Louise Heyden, library manager, have been running the exercises since June.

Mrs Heyden said: "They involve everything from working out directions and remembering a series of cards, to catching skills and drawing mirror images.

"The children involved have all reported an improvement in their concentration or memory skills."

Tendring Technology College is thought to be the only secondary school in Essex to run the exercises.
