AN elderly lady found herself in trouble after her mobility scooter battery ran out half way across a level crossing in Frinton.

The woman got stuck on the crossing at about 2pm.

A crew from nearby Frinton Fire Station were called to the station, but the woman was helped off the track by a passerby.

A spokesman for Frinton fire station said: “Her mobility scooter ran out of battery half way across the level crossing.

“She was stuck on the railway line and she was panicking a little bit.

“Someone one got her off the line before we got there, so the crews gave her oxygen, but weren’t needed to do anything else.”

A spokesman for Network Rail said the crossing is operated by CCTV and that the woman was never in any danger.

After the incident was reported signals were switched to red, but there were no trains in the area at the time and no delays to services.

The short ordeal was over by 2.05pm.
