HOLIDAYMAKERS and residents will be able to try their hand at beach volleyball in Clacton this summer.
Two professional standard volleyball nets have been set up at the resort's popular Martello Beach.
The nets were provided by Volleyball England as part of a national campaign and have been installed by Tendring Council.
Lisa Wainwright, chief executive of Volleyball England, said: “It is important we provide facilities ahead of the Olympic games, for people to experience the sport as both players and spectators.
“There is already a lot of interest in the sport and the nets have been supplied as part of Volleyball England’s, Go Spike! Campaign, which is focused on driving up adult participation in volleyball.
“The two new net systems at Clacton are a critical element of the campaign and we are delighted to be working with Tendring Council on this project and building a legacy for volleyball and sport in general.”
The equipment will be looked after by the council’s Beach Patrol Team, which will put the nets out in the morning and take them in each evening.
