AN elderly woman who was seriously injured in last week’s devastating gas explosion in Clacton has died in hospital.
Andree Maffey, who was 80 last month, lived in the ground floor flat of a Wellesley Road house which was ripped apart by an explosion.
She suffered serious burns and was rushed to Colchester General Hospital, before being transferred to specialist burns unit at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford.
Mrs Maffey had been described as being in a stable condition, but died in hospital over the weekend.
