A WOMAN has been charged with murder following the death of a man in Clacton on New Year’s Day.

Oliver Smith-Daye, 29, from West Avenue, died after suffering a head injury in Trimley Close following an assault shorlty before 4.30am on January 1.

He was conveyed by paramedics to Colchester General Hospital, where he later died.

A provisional post-mortem examination result showed Mr Smith-Saye died from head injuries.

Elisha Francois was arrested today and has been charged with one count of murder.

The 21-year-old unemployed woman, from Trimley Close, has been detained in police custody.

She will appear before Colchester Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

Charlie Jacobs, a 22-year-old unemployed man also from Trimley Close, and Alan Didier, an unemployed 42-year-old from Beckton, east London, are due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on April 30 charged respectively with attempted grievous bodily harm and affray.

A 42-year-old woman, from Clacton, also arrested in connection with this investigation, has been released from her police bail.
