A NEW operator has stepped forward to run a bus service after the previous bus was axed.
New Horizon Travel will take over the route running through Frinton and Walton after previous provider First Bus scrapped the number 13 service.
Passengers originally feared they would be left stranded when the service was discontinued.
The number 13 bus will be cut in the first week of March, and the new bus will take over immediately.
It will run a very similar route, including going up to Sunny Point in Walton, but will not have as many stops in Kirby-le-Soken and Kirby Cross.
Town councillor Mark Cossens said: “It is good to see another operator step forward and this should be a good replacement.
“It will not be exactly the same, and it looks like we will lose a couple of stops but gain a Saturday service.
“When it comes to buses we have always said use it or lose it. This service will be put back on, so people need to make sure it is well used.
“If it has enough people using it, the bus will make enough money and will continue to be a great service for the community.”
The new bus should also include a Saturday service from April.
