AN art club has become the latest tenant in Clacton’s pop-up shop after the business lined up to take over had to pull out.

The Jackson Road shop was set up by Tendring Council to give budding entrepreneurs a chance to run their business from the shop without having to pay the usual rates and fees.

A new business was lined up to take over but had to pull out at the last minute.

The council contacted clubs and organisations in a bid to make sure the shop did not stay empty while a new business was found.

Clacton Art Club jumped at the opportunity, and will be selling members’ paintings, offering tips and raising its profile whilst in the shop.

Club secretary Gina Cutting said: “It was an opportunity we simply could not pass up and it will give us a new level of exposure in Clacton town centre."

The council is searching for a new entrepreneur to fill the shop after the art club.

Those interested in becoming the next licensee should email rfryer@tendringdc.gov.uk or call 01255 686149 and an application form will be sent out to them.
