URGENT action has been called on for an accident blackspot after the latest crash saw a car burst into flames.

Neil Stock, leader of Tendring Council, said the collision on Wednesday November 16 between a car and a schoolbus on the A120 should act as a “wake up call”.

Several children were taken to hospital after the incident near the Great Bromley junction - but all involved escaped serious injury.

Mr Stock, councillor for Ardleigh and Little Bromley, said the A120 between Hare Green and Horsley Cross has been a blackspot for many years with numerous accidents, some being fatal.

He said believes the simple and cheap solution is to make that entire length of road single carriageway by painting white hatchings and reducing the speed limit, possibly to 40mph.

Tendring Council is set to take the issue up with Essex County Council in a bid to get the safety of the road improved.
