ALL turbines at Clacton’s offshore wind farm are expected to be up by the end of the month.
Peter Sills, spokesman for Dong Energy, said all 48 turbines at the Gunfleet Sands Wind Farm are expected to be installed within the next two or three weeks.
Once completed, the facility will cater for 120,000 homes – about 20 per cent of homes in Essex.
“We have now got 45 turbines up, which leaves three more for completion,” said Mr Sills.
“We are currently generating electricity from 20 of the 45 turbines that are out there.
“It depends on the weather each day, but the wind farm is producing around 100 MW – which could power about 50,000 homes.”
Mr Sills said it is hoped the majority of turbines will be commissioned and generating electricity by the end of March.
