A COMMUNITY branch of a trade union will be helping people in Jaywick with the introduction of Universal Credit.
The new system, which has been launched in Tendring, replaces six other benefits with a single payment system, although critics claim it is increasing poverty.
Clacton’s Unite Community Branch will be holding the event at St Christopher’s Church, in Meadow Way, Jaywick, on Saturday, April 28, from noon to 4pm.
Rick Grogan, chairman of Clacton Unite, said: “ Everyone is invited to come along and have fun, meet friends and neighbours, bring their children and get help and advice regarding their benefits.
“There will be music, food and a social gathering to help bring the community together.”
