GLORIOUS apples were at the core of a fundraiser in aid of a heritage trust.

More than 450 people went to the Railway Cottage Garden at Frinton’s railway crossing gates for the Frinton and Walton Heritage Trust apple day.

The event was held to raise money for the activities carried out by the trust over the year.

The trust aims to preserve historical knowledge of the area and provide public access to the archives, artefacts and exhibits which tell the story of the community’s past.

In addition to apples, there were plenty of stalls selling bric a brac, cakes, jewellery, jams, books and plants.

David Smith played the saxophone to provide music for the visitors.

David Foster, who is the chairman of the Frinton in Bloom group, said: “It was a day that looked like it was going to be bad weather but that didn’t stop the crowds coming, it was very successful.

“Everyone did really well.”

The event is expected to have raised more than £2,000.
