A GOVERNMENT inspector has given the go-ahead for 14 new bungalows to be built in Clacton.
Tendring Council originally refused planning permission for the scheme at Elm Farm, in Little Clacton Road, last year.
The applicant appealed in a bid to get the decision overturned and has been successful.
The outline plans are for 14 bungalows and final details of the proposal such as layout, design, scale and landscaping will still need to be agreed by the council.
Inspector Joanne Burston said that she took into account a previous decision which dismissed an appeal for 25 dwellings – mainly detached two-storey houses – on the same site.
She decided that the latest scheme was a sustainable development even though it would have minor visual impacts which could be overcome with planting and design.
“I have found that the appeal proposal would have a beneficial effect on the supply of housing to which I accord significant weight,” she said. “The adverse impacts of the scheme would not significantly and demonstrably outweigh the benefits and the proposed development would be sustainable.”
There are 15 conditions which need to be complied with including those taking care of highway safety and drainage arrangements.
