A FOOTBALL club is holding an open day to try and attract more volunteers to help youngsters improve their footballing skills.

Frinton and Walton Youth Football Club are inviting residents to its clubhouse on Frinton Playing Fields, in Jubilee Way between 10am and 11.30am this Saturday. *March,25 *.

The event is taking place with the hope of attracting ten more volunteers to help with coaching, team management and administration for the club.

Frinton and Walton Youth Football Club currently has close to 30 volunteers, and it is looking for the help of more people to share the workload and responsibilities.

The club, which will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year, provides coaching and development for all ability boys and girls between the ages of six to 18 years old.

There are currently more than 250 children who attend training and football matches every week.

Frinton and Walton Youth Football Club spokesman Kevin Smith said: “Naturally we're incredibly passionate about the opportunity we give to children through football and continue to grow our youth membership across all age groups as each year goes by.

“With such a big group of children, the scale of the operation grows each year and we are trying to attract members of our community who can assist in the functional responsibilities.”

He added: “With requirements spanning functions such as administration, finance, coaching, marketing and clubhouse support among others, we hope to attract anyone who is interested in helping us build on the last 40 years as a club and we will align interests and skills of those who come forward to the vacant duties.”
