A PRIMARY school is celebrating a ‘good’ inspection rating for the second time in six years.

St Philomena’s School in Hadleigh Road, Frinton, recently received the rating from the Independent Schools Inspectorate for the academic achievement of its pupils and quality of its education.

The report, published every six years, praised the pupils for being highly self-disciplined, courteous and respectful of each other, staff and visitors.

Excellent reading skills among the pupils, a result of high-quality teaching, was also highlighted.

The inspectors also reported that pupils of all abilities achieve well overall and their attainment is above the national average.

Headteacher Barbara McKeown said: “We’re delighted to again receive such positive feedback from the school inspectors, recognising our pupils’ academic achievements.

“Many of our pupils go on to enter the top ability groups for major subjects in secondary education.

“This is a testament to both the hard work of our pupils and the commitment of our teaching and support staff, who work tirelessly to create a stimulating and enjoyable learning environment.”

Mrs McKeown added: “We’re thrilled to have again gained a ‘good’ rating from the ISI and look forward to the challenge of building upon this success in 2017.”
