A DISTRAUGHT man says thieves cannot get any lower after flowers were stolen from three of his family members’ graves.

Ground worker Paul Davis, of Clacton, was devastated when he visited Burrs Cemetery to find out his mother’s, father’s and sister’s flowers, which had cost more than £100, had been taken.

Mr Davis, brother Andrew and niece Sue visited the cemetery together on December 18 at 11am to leave Christmas floral tributes next to the headstones of Maria, John and Tina Davis.

When Paul returned to the cemetery, at 10am on December 27, he was stunned to see the flowers had gone.

He said: “I was absolutely devastated to discover the flowers we had laid down to pay our respects had all been stolen.

“I was shocked and distressed and phoned my brother and niece to let them know and my brother came up straight away and we both cleaned the area up.”

Paul and his brother went to check the bins around the cemetery, however they found no traces of their family’s flowers anywhere.

Paul said: “I haven’t got a clue why they were stolen or why anyone would do such a thing to my family’s flowers.

“It is a disgusting crime and whoever did it couldn’t get any lower than this kind of theft.”

Since the theft of the flowers, Mr Davis, his brother and niece have placed more flowers on their family’s graves and cleaned the area.

He said: “I am so worried the new flowers we put down could be taken too, and it is a horrible feeling having them there now.”

Anyone with any information should call Clacton police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
