POLICE were called to a primary school after a five-year-old child was found with two gun cartridges.

An officer and special constable went to the school in Clacton after teachers contacted the police.

They seized the cartridges and spoke to the pupil and their family.

The police refused to disclose where the incident took place or how the pupil came to be in possession of the ammunition.

A force spokesman confirmed the gun cartridges were confiscated.
