A CAR smashed through the side of a garage after veering off the road in Clacton.

The Mazda, which had three children inside at the time, flashed across Thorpe Road before crashing into the garage of a house set back from the road at about 8.30am yesterday morning.

It crashed into the side of the garage, breaking through the brick wall and smashing the wall on the other side.

The badly-damaged car came to a halt inside the garage, with its front end poking out the other side into a footpath.

The impact left a gaping hole through the garage, with the car left inside.

Bricks and debris were left littered around the area.

It happened at about 8.30am on Tuesday.

A woman was driving and there were three children in the car at the time of the crash.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene and the ambulance crew spent an hour with the casualties at the scene.

They were taken to Colchester General Hospital at 9.30am. The extent of any injuries is not known, but they are not thought to have been too severe.
