Even if, like me, you are a 40-something still on the shelf, there’s much to identify with in “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.”

We have all played the mating/dating game to various success and this helped deliver laughs galore as we have all been there.

Set in modern day America, the play presented a series of sketches and songs, backed by a live band, starting off with the first dates and ending with a meeting of two widows at a funeral.

We saw love and relationships in all their glories and failings, the better or worse that so many put up with.

None of the actors were well-known but all delivered their lines superbly and they could sing decently too.

It all made for a great evening and it was a shame a few seats were still free at the front. Some people missed out on a brilliant night, which was the consensus of those leaving McGrigor Hall.

My father-of-seven flatmate has two failed marriages behind him.

“I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” he said reading the programme cover when I got home.

“Yup, that’s about right!”

The play runs until Saturday.
