TWO men have been attacked during an assault with a baton in Brightlingsea.

The victims were in Nelson Street when the armed assailant jumped out of a gold Jaguar and began beating them.

It happened at about 8.30pm yesterday.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Two men were walking along when a gold coloured Jaguar style car pulled over in front of them.

"A man got out of the car and assaulted both the men with what was believed to be an extendable baton, leaving them both with bruising to their legs.

"The suspect then returned to the car and drove off."

The suspect is Asian, aged in his late 20s to early 30s and slim.

He was 6ft tall and unshaven with short dark hair.

He was wearing a dark coloured t-shirt and denim jeans.

He was accompanied by a white woman around the same age with with "mousy" coloured long hair.

She was wearing a cream coloured top.
